Weekend Recap

Bob and I had a wonderful weekend celebrating our anniversary. Saturday morning, we got up and drove over to Fairhope. We explored the art festival and found my dad a gift for his upcoming birthday. We searched for a place to eat that had a tv so I could catch some of the game. Big mistake. It was tragic from the second that we started watching. So many stupid mistakes and penalties. Our team had no heart. It was just ugly. Fortunately, I wasn't being forced to watch. We finished up lunch and went to check out a market that was recommended to Robert by a co-worker. I believe it was called 181 Market. It wasn't what we were expecting. The "market" was a set of climate controlled storage units where people just rolled up the doors to their unit and sold the stuff inside. I think Robert's quote was that he "felt like we were on storage wars". We didn't find anything that we couldn't live without. I will say that I feel like if you hit it at just the right time you could probably find something awesome.

After the market, we headed to the Grand Hotel. Our room wasn't quite ready so we changed clothes and headed to the pool. It was at this point that Auburn scored and I had a glimmer of hope. That didn't last long. We sat at the bar until it was 24-7 and then just stopped watching. Clearly, it didn't get any better so I'm glad I didn't waste any more time. After spending an afternoon poolside, we enjoyed a few sunset cocktails with Robert's friend, Clifton, and his wife, Leighton. We had 8:00 reservations at the Wash House and dinner was delicous.

Sunday, we had breakfast in Fairhope, grocery shopped at Publix and then drove back over the bay. I went to meet a friend for lunch, picked up cookies at the Junior League and then went to the Hunter's to enjoy some champagne and year-old cake. They were so sweet to keep our cake safe for us! I have to say, it wasn't as awful as I'd imagined it would be.

Yesterday, for our actual anniversary, we celebrated by providing for Layla. We went to work. I did come home to find beautiful flowers from Robert as well as flowers from his grandmother and aunt in New Mexico. We grilled steak, drank our favorite wine and Layla chased a nasty possum into a tree in the backyard. That sums it up nicely!
