Gameday Grub: White Sauce

First up, a discussion of last night's debate. I kid. The seven thousand facebook status updates and tweets I've skimmed over have just about done me in. For the record, saying that someone is "so out of touch with reality" or "such a horrible person" is not a well-articulated political comment/opinion. That goes both ways. Moving on...

Without a doubt, this is one of the most beloved recipes in my family. White barbecue sauce is a household staple in North Alabama, but not quite as common down here in the South. It's good on pretty much anything: chicken, pork, fries, vegetables, etc. We actually made three large batches of the sauce on Friday night before Supper Club and gave bottles to each couple on Saturday night. Give it a try, I promise you won't be disappointed!

Hard at work.

White Sauce
Large batch:
1 quart mayonnaise
1 cup white vinegar
3 oz. lemon juice
6 tablespoons sugar
6 tablespoons pepper
3 teaspoons salt

Small batch:
10 tablespoons mayonnaise
3 tablespoons white vinegar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon black pepper
½ teaspoon salt

Combine all ingredients. Store in fridge for up to two weeks.
