Really?

They're not awful. I'm just wondering why those girls are wearing swimsuits on a boat being pulled by a trailer through a hayfield. Seems sort of itchy if you ask me.

Preview: Auburn v. Clemson

Mel and Aubie

Howard, Fowler, Corso
Auburn's first game of the season will kickoff on Saturday in the Georgia Dome in ATL. Clemson is slightly favored at this point, but I feel confident that we can pull out a "W". Even with Sammy Watkins out due to a drug-related suspension, our defense is going to have to tighten up, otherwise, we may be looking at a repeat of 2011. Unfortunately, the WDFJ won't have a tremendous showing at the game, but Amy Kate and Jen G. will be there to represent the fam. Eat your orange and blue m&m's, girls!

Flashback from Clemson 2010 above. Loved meeting Aubie and going "backstage" at Gameday. We got there at the crack of dawn, only to have Laurie's super clever signs seized by the Gameday gestapo. "Protect This House" and "Tim Tebow Wears Cam Newton Pajamas" were some of the best signs in gamedayglitterati.blogspot.com history. We angrily stomped back to the tailgate, drank a lot of a small bit of bourbon slush and returned later in the day to see Erin Andrews in action.

Regardless of which team you favor, I hope everyone has their shakers and gameday faces ready! Just two more days!

Unnecessary Roughness

As evidenced in the previous post, the WDFJ loves a good challenge. For the past several years, each family member has been tasked with coming up with an unnecessary item for the tailgate.

Items to be noted include: a chandelier, self-promoting signage, faces on trees and dead animals. I'm sure you've heard the saying, "Go hard or go home". We find that it's also applicable to tailgating. Four more days, y'all!

Daren Bates is my Homeboy!

This year, to spice things up a bit, we've created a contest known as the Homeboy Challenge. The basic premise of the challenge is that each of the younger generation of the WDFJ chose one player to serve as their "homeboy" throughout the course of the season. My dad, a.k.a. Raul, is a former football referee with a vast knowledge of all things offense and defense. Each Sunday, Raul will select the MVP of the previous day's game. If your homeboy is chosen, you win liquor, simple as that. Of course we had to have LKB, gamedayglitterati.blogspot.com, craft a chart for the competition, complete with each entrant's selection. Attention #25, make something happen out there! This girl needs Grey Goose!

Here goes nothing...

Without further ado, a little about myself. My name is Melissa, Mel for short. I'm married to a great guy, I'm pushing thirty and spend my weekday hours as an attorney in Mobile, Alabama. I like to spend my weekends sleeping, cooking and, occasionally, working out. In the fall, my weekends are spent on Mell Street in Auburn, Alabama cheering on the Auburn Tigers. My family's tailgate, aptly named the War Damn Fam Jam (WDFJ) is a glittery extravaganza of Auburn celebration. Our passion lies in good drink, delicious food, getting low and our love of football.  Through this blog, I hope to document some awesome decor, recipes, fashion, dance moves and a winning football season. Who's ready for kickoff?
